DIY Spa Treatment

 CHINESE SESAME GINGER SCRUB

Origins Incredible Spreadable Ginger Body Scrub may be one of the best-smelling, calming products on the planet. I've had a love affair with this sugary, lemony, and gingery item for about five years now. It does the trick every time to bring me to my happy place during bath time.

  • STEP 1: Take about an inch of ginger root and cut it into pieces. Next, grind it in your coffee grinder so that it's finely chopped up.
  • STEP 2: In a bowl, add in 1 tbsp. of ginseng powder, one-and-a-half tbsp. of sugar, four tbsp. of sesame oil, 1 tbsp. of rose-hip oil, five drops of myrrh, and five drops of mandarin essential oil. Mix it together with the ground ginger.
  • STEP 3: While you're in your tub or shower, apply the scrub liberally to your body in circular movements and then rinse off. Don't forget to take deep breaths to fully enjoy the sweet escape!

  • Take out a mixing bowl and fill it with eight to ten ripe or over-ripe strawberries.
  • Squash the strawberries until they become soft and mushy. Then combine two tablespoons of olive oil and one teaspoon of coarse salt until you have a paste.
  • Next, massage the paste onto your body, focusing on any super-dry or dull looking skin areas. Rub well and then rinse off with warm water. Your skin will feel instantly softer, smoother and shinier!

Ingredients:

3/4 cup coffee beans
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cloves

Step 1: Put coffee beans, powdered clove and brown sugar in a coffee grinder.
Step 2: Grind coarsely, put in empty tub or Tupperware container and mix a little more.
Step 3: Add vanilla and oil and mix. Feel free to add more olive oil, but do it slowly, as it's easy to go overboard!
By being able to control the sizes of the particles in the scrub, you decide how rough you want it. The oil really does the trick in terms of keeping your limbs smooth. I shaved after using it, and my legs are super-smooth and soft, so don't be afraid to keep it a little chunky.

Ingredients:
  • Honey
  • Freshly grated ginger root
  • Chopped fresh mint leaves
  • Olive oil
  • Brown sugar, light or dark
Methods:

Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl — it's up to you to decide how much ginger and mint you'd like, but a ratio of 1/3 olive oil to 2/3 brown sugar will provide a good base for the scrub. About a tablespoon of honey will provide an antiseptic quality to the scrub.

The best way to use this scrub is on dry skin; it's particularly good on hands and feet. After buffing your skin, rinse with warm water. You'll have incredibly softer skin for a small fraction of a name-brand scrub!
